Interchangeable I/O expanders enable you to configure your rig to fit every production type. Whether using your camera in a gimbal, run-and-gun, or studio environment—WEAPON has the ideal solution for your needs. WEAPON’s inherent usability frees you from cables by incorporating peripherals with integrated circuitry, including top handle and LCD display options that connect directly to the DSMC2™ BRAIN. Onboard wireless connectivity allows for remote camera control using iOS or Android mobile devices.

INTELLIGENT DESIGN, INTUITIVE CONTROL.

The powerful simplicity of WEAPON allows for easily customizable rigs complete with streamlined peripheral integration. Built–in stereo microphones and a speaker allow for even easier audio capture and playback, while an integrated Start/Stop button on the DSMC2 Top Handle and DSMC2 Outrigger Handle put recording at your fingertips. New intelligent OLPFs with integrated circuitry communicate the necessary colorimetry information to the BRAIN. A cam-action lock makes swapping your OLPFs to customize footage more convenient than ever.

WEAPON supercharges the already blazing fast read/write speeds of the RED MINI-MAG®. The new integrated media bay offers higher bandwidth and unleashes the full potential of RED MINI-MAGs. With a number of capacities and options, RED MINI-MAGs offer flexible solutions for any shoot. WEAPON also supports the Apple ProRes codec, giving you the freedom to record in both the R3D and Apple ProRes file formats—at the same time. Support for Avid DNxHR™ and Avid DNxHD® recording formats will be made available in mid-2016, bringing yet another powerful and intuitive workflow option to professionals shooting on WEAPON. Whatever your workflow demands, RED has you covered.

RED DRAGON REBORN.

The 19 megapixel RED DRAGON sensor can capture 6K 2.4:1 motion and stills at up to 100 frames per second, and 6K Full Frame at 75 fps. And it just got even better. The redesigned BRAIN infrastructure enabled our engineers to make a number of enhancements like automatic black shade calibrations, improved low light sensor performance, and implement a new intelligent OLPF system. WEAPON BRAINs are also equipped to support 1D and 3D LUTs—giving colorists and post-production teams more control than ever before. LUT options and other features vary between magnesium and carbon fiber models.

WEAPON uses the DSMC2 line of accessories—compatible with both RED RAVEN™ and SCARLET-W cameras—giving shooters the option to move between camera systems without having to purchase all new gear. In addition, various components from the DSMC line of accessories are supported through backwards compatibility and adaptor options. WEAPON upgrade options include packages that incorporate critical module and component replacements, while Carbon Fiber WEAPON owners have the opportunity to upgrade their current 6K sensor to 8K when it becomes available.
